Depending on the problem, it can be useful to ask about consultation and examination, laboratory testing, imaging, anaesthesia and theatre support, inpatient monitoring, critical care, referral pathways and after-hours arrangements. A provider should explain which capability is relevant to your pet and whether it is available for the current case.
Imaging and diagnostics
X-ray, ultrasound, CT and MRI answer different questions. Ask why a particular test is recommended, whether sedation or anaesthesia is needed, who interprets the study and when results are expected.
Safety and continuity
For procedures or hospital stays, ask about anaesthetic monitoring, pain control, overnight observation, emergency escalation, written discharge instructions and how records return to the regular veterinarian.

Does every pet need advanced facilities?
No. The useful capability depends on the clinical question. Ask the examining veterinarian which test or level of monitoring could change the diagnosis or treatment plan.
