Government Vet Clinics in Selangor & KL: Locations, Hours and What They Do (2026)

What is a government vet clinic?

DVS sits under the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security. The DVS Selangor page lists the functions of the district veterinary offices, including "Menyediakan perkhidmatan ambulatori dan klinik" (provides ambulatory and clinic services). In the district service lists, "ambulatori" means treating farm animals, while "klinik" refers to pets.

So the clinics are one part of a department that also handles permits and livestock health. The published services differ from one district to another.

District veterinary offices in Selangor

The DVS Selangor website lists nine district veterinary offices (Pejabat Perkhidmatan Veterinar Daerah). The table follows what those pages publish. Locations are given by town only.

This table does not promise that a clinic is open on a given day or that a treatment is available. The DVS pages do not say.

The DVS Selangor state office is in Shah Alam. Its "Ibu Pejabat" page publishes office hours as Monday to Friday, 8.00 am to 5.00 pm, with Saturday and Sunday closed. That is the state office, not a district clinic.

Kuala Lumpur: Hospital Veterinar WPKL

For Kuala Lumpur, the DVS directory lists the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur veterinary department in the Cheras area (Jalan Selar 4). The DVS menu also has a "Hospital Veterinar WPKL" page, which publishes its schedule as an image. This is the schedule published by DVS on the Hospital Veterinar WPKL page (read 24 October 2026):

The services listed on that page include basic outpatient treatment, basic veterinary surgery, preventive care (vaccine, flea treatment, deworming), permits and licensing, and pet registration (pet passport).

The same page says surgery and permit services are by appointment, and that the schedule can change. It advises customers to check the department's Google listing and official social media. A separate permit schedule on that page lists Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings, 8.30 am to 12 noon.

For Putrajaya, the DVS directory pages read list no veterinary clinic. Only the department's headquarters is there.

Weekends and public holidays: what the sources support

You may hear that government vet clinics close on weekends and public holidays. Here is what can be confirmed:

  • Hospital Veterinar WPKL: the DVS page says "Sabtu, Ahad, & Cuti Umum (Tutup)", meaning Saturday, Sunday and public holidays closed. Friday is closed too.
  • DVS Selangor state office: Saturday and Sunday closed. Public holidays are not mentioned on that page.
  • Selangor district offices: no hours are published, so nothing can be said.

So no official page supports a blanket claim that every DVS clinic closes on weekends and public holidays. It is confirmed only for Hospital Veterinar WPKL. For options on those days, read the guide to vets open on Sundays and public holidays.

Emergencies: what the DVS pages say

The DVS Selangor customer charter says pet treatment at a clinic starts within 30 minutes of registration, for cases that do not involve chronic or emergency treatment ("tidak melibatkan kes rawatan kronik dan kecemasan"). In other words, that commitment does not cover emergencies.

Fees

No official fee schedule for clinic or pet treatment turned up on the pages read. The only fee page found on the DVS Selangor site is "Kadar Bayaran Dokumen Pemindahan Ternakan & Sembelihan Luar", which covers animal movement and import/export certificates (the table includes dogs and cats) and external-slaughter permits, not clinic visits. Trusty Tails does not state any prices.
